Abstract
This study examines how Kompas.com and Republika.co.id report on the issue of tolerance and religious diversity in Indonesia from March 2024 to April 2025. Using the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki framing analysis model which includes four structural elements,namely syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures, this study frames 20 news articles (10 each from each media). With this, the results of the framing analysis that have been carried out by the researcher show that both media equally highlight the importance of tolerance between religious communities, but with different narrative approaches. Kompas.com more often frames issues from the perspective of pluralism and nationalism, emphasizing diversity as the strength of the nation. Meanwhile, Republika.co.id emphasizes the perspective or point of view of Islamic religion, focusing on Islamic values and the views of Muslim religious figures. This difference in framing reflects the influence of editorial ideology on news preparation. Despite having different perspectives, both media still play a role in strengthening the values of harmony in Indonesia's diverse society. This study concludes that the media not only presents information, but also plays a role in forming social harmony and public perspectives. It is hoped that these findings can be a reference for studies in Communication Science, media studies, and issues of religious diversity, as well as increasing media literacy in understanding news based on ideology.
