Abstract
This study aims to analyze the framing of news coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war in international online media CNN.com and national Detik.com for the period January–March 2025 using Robert N. Entman's framing model. The focus of the analysis covers four aspects: Define Problem (problem identification), Diagnose Cause (cause diagnosis), Make Moral Judgement (moral judgment), and Treatment Recommendation (solution recommendation). Data were taken from news articles related to the conflict using descriptive qualitative analysis techniques. The objects of this study include news about the Russia and Ukraine war broadcast on CNN.com and Detik.com in the period January 2025 to March 2025. The selection of these two media was based on the representation of international and national media in presenting information related to the conflict. This study reveals how ideological interests and audience context influence news construction, while reflecting media bias in shaping public opinion regarding global conflict. These findings enrich the discussion on the role of media in geopolitical issues and the relevance of Entman's model for comparative studies of cross-country media. The results of the study are expected to provide in-depth insight into how the mass media, especially CNN.com and Detik.com, play a role in shaping public perceptions of the Russia- Ukraine conflict. In addition, this study is expected to identify certain biases or tendencies in news reporting that can influence public opinion and contribute to studies of media framing analysis and political communication more broadly.
