Abstract
This study analyzes the news framing of the sexual abuse case involving former Ngada Police Chief AKBP Fajar Lukman in the online media outlets Kompas.com and PosKupang.com during the March 2025 period. The method used is the framing analysis model by Pan and Kosicki, which includes four structural elements: syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical. This qualitative research adopts a constructivist approach and analyzes 10 articles from each media outlet, based on the event stages: emergence of the case, arrest, ethical hearing, and verdict. The analysis reveals that in the syntactic structure, Kompas.com employs empathetic headlines highlighting the identities of both the perpetrator and the victim, while PosKupang.com focuses more on factual elements and the events themselves. In the script structure, Kompas.com emphasizes the legal process and institutional responses, whereas PosKupang.com presents a chronological narrative. In terms of the thematic structure, Kompas.com raises issues of causality and morality, while PosKupang.com highlights timing and official responses from local authorities. Lastly, in the rhetorical structure, Kompas.com maintains a neutral tone, whereas PosKupang.com uses more emotionally charged diction. These framing differences indicate the influence of national and local media orientations in shaping public perception of sexual violence cases involving state officials and underage victims.
