Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there are differences in the behavior of helping to provide seats between male passengers and early adult women on the Commuter Line Jakarta-Bogor route. The data for this study were generated from a scale distributed to 390 early adult users of the Jakarta-Bogor Commuter Line route at the age of 21-40 years, users who remember helping behavior on the Commuter Line before Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), users who used the Commuter Line on the Commuter Line. during working hours, users who use the Commuter Line 3 times in a weekday, and users who have given seats to other passengers. The scale used to measure helping behavior is the Guttman Scale developed by Yulianto (2019). This study uses the calculation of the Coefficient of Reproducibility (CR) and the Coefficient of Scalability (CS). The results showed that there was a difference in the order of aid provision where early adult males tended to provide more assistance in the form of seats on the Commuter Line to women. Meanwhile, early adult women provide assistance in the form of granting seats on the Commuter Line to both men and women. The data analysis method used in this study was the independent sample t-test. The results showed that there were differences in the behavior of helping to provide seats between early adult males and early adult females, where the subjects of early adult males tended to be more likely to perform helping behavior in giving seats than early adult females. The results of this study can be used as a research development on the phenomenon of helping behavior both on the Commuter Line and in other public transportation.
