High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) equipped with photodiode array (PDA) detection from 190-800 nm spectral range has been a method in great demand in analytical chemistry of natural products that offers three-dimensional data set. This data set presents simultaneously the retention time of identified compounds over the spectral range of wavelength detection. In practical application, very often, it is only a single channel of wavelength that is being selected to produce a chromatogram, while eliminating potential information data from the other channels. Multi-chromatograms approach has been proposed to tackle this problem by integrating the available complete data set. Here, we evaluated and compared both single wavelength method and multi-chromatogram approach to whether the method is able to accurately calculate and present information data such as the compositions and the concentration of the detected compound, as well as their percentage of the total peak area. Prior to the experiment we used a mixture of photosynthetic pigments that has been extracted from Sargassum spp.
